At the Department of Well-being Nursing, we aim to develop and implement medical devices and welfare equipment through industry-academia collaboration, enabling home care patients with advanced medical and nursing needs to achieve well-being and maintain their independence with dignity until the end of life. Our particular focus is on extending the healthy lifespan of elderly individuals receiving home care by establishing a smart home care system.

In Japan¡¯s super-aging society, medical care is shifting from hospitals to homes and facilities, driven by the promotion of the regional comprehensive care system. Given the shortage of medical and caregiving manpower, it is crucial to help home care patients avoid becoming bedridden or fixed sitting, ensuring they live safely and comfortably. Monitoring through sensor technology and ICT, and early detection of abnormalities, play a vital role. This requires the establishment of a new smart home care system that accumulates data obtained through sensor technology and ICT, detects signs of abnormalities with AI, and sends data to hospitals or home nursing stations for remote or visiting care.

At Ishikawa Prefectural Nursing University, we are actively promoting industry-academia collaboration. In addition to the Department of Well-being Nursing, we also have the Department of Bio-engineering nursing. We aim to extend the healthy lifespan of elderly individuals receiving home care by addressing both “independence” and “autonomy,” which are essential for achieving well-being.
